Biographies
Todd Franks is a member of Moss & Barnett's litigation department and focuses his practice in the areas of employment law, real estate, creditors' remedies and commercial litigation. He provides legal advice to a diverse group of businesses. He provides proactive, insightful front-end guidance as well as effective and thorough litigation assistance when needed. Mr. Franks' recent litigation experience includes the following: mortgage disputes, commercial lending disputes, foreclosures, conveyances, wrongful termination defense, real property tax appeals, landlord-tenant litigation, non-compete litigation, defense of discrimination claims, riparian rights disputes, boundary disputes, contract disputes, fraud claims, tortious interference with contract, bankruptcy, real estate broker disputes and construction disputes. Mr. Franks has represented various clients in administrative law proceedings, court and jury trials, including state and federal courts, Minnesota Tax Court and the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Mr. Franks is a member of the Hennepin County, Minnesota State and American Bar Associations, as well as the Minnesota State Bar Association's Professionalism Committee. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and is also an active member of the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers (MABL) and Twin Cities Diversity in Practice's Recruiting Committee. Mr. Franks appears regularly on the "Fox 9" morning news as a legal correspondent. Mr. Franks also serves as President of the Minneapolis Kiwanis, is a member of the American Legion, a former Captain in the United States Army Reserve, and serves on several boards, including Hamline University Paralegal Advisory Board. He works as an Adjunct Professor at Hamline University, a Moot Court Judge, and a Volunteer Lawyer at Chrysalis and Southern Regional Legal Services. Mr. Franks regularly lectures on a variety of legal topics, including, most recently, the Civil Liability Act and the impact of the Bankruptcy Reform Act on Landlord/Tenant relationships.
