Biographies
Terese A. West practices in the area of commercial litigation. She has successfully advocated for her clients in a variety of matters including, but not limited to, secured and unsecured commercial loan transactions; employment matters involving wrongful discharge, sexual harassment and discrimination claims, agreements not to compete and other restrictive covenants, trade secrets, and unfair competition; insurance coverage disputes; and other contract disputes. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. West externed with a judge of the United States District Court, District of Minnesota, and clerked for an appellate judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Ms. West's background includes several years of experience as a controller for a closely-held business. As a result, Ms. West has an insider's perspective on how closely-held businesses operate and the unique issues involved in managing such businesses. Ms. West advises her clients on the intricacies and consequences of their legal decisions on their businesses and personal objectives, focusing on both the practical and financial considerations involved in making these choices. In addition, Ms. West is sensitive to the demands of running a business, and thus keeps her clients well informed throughout the representation, which enables them to stay focused on day-to-day business operations. Ms. West has lectured on the topic of business and the law, including the fundamentals of starting a business, regulatory compliance, staffing and contracting with vendors and customers.
